Who has dormant G-prod , GT-4, and GT-5 cars sitting around?

I have Bobby Lentz's old PL510 GP car. I had another 510 that had a great body and nothing under it but old worn out stock parts. I took Bobby's running gear and moved it all over to the other tub. I'm running it in vintage as a BSedan car. Yeah, I know it's over prep for BSedan. It's easy, tell them car is over prepared and you don't want a trophy and hand them a check. Bobby's old tub now has some production level suspension parts and some stock parts. It has a stock transmission and a L20 block in it. It no longer has a real home in SCCA that I am aware of with that engine. I sold it to my track safety manager for almost nothing because he loves the flares.

Hmmm.. I gave him that Hardbody for nothing- wonder if I could pick up the 510 from him for nothing back. ;) always wanted a dime...

I have three cars sitting here. A FP/HP/GTL Midget, race ready. A tube frame RWD Mini and a tub FWD Mini both waiting on motor assembly.

Had a well sorted 1098 powered '64 Sprite with a 25 year GP history that went quiet with the GP demise. Welded original rear quarters on it and sold it to a friend as a Vintage chassis last year. He said his HP car was too modified and he was parking it in favor of running Vintage. By the way, anyone interested in a fresh, full prep '59 HP Sprite with an extensive runoff history and some spares for $13,000 give me a shout. Can't convert it to GTL or anything else at this stage. Wife/Crew Chief says I can't bring it in the house and make a wine rack out of it either.

Me,
68 Cooper S (tub/semi tube) (1293cc)

GTL has lost virtually all of the old minis.
We used to be a large part of GT5
still running
Car would need belts and I think fire system update ( and SIR) for SCCA

Keith,
That engine does not run an SIR.

Yea,
I know
I have 1420 CC in my street car that would be race ready if I deck the block to get compression back up.
and enough parts to build a least 2 more motors
That would put me in SIR range.
A lot of work to fit an air box ( not much room)
Looked hard at HP but car body is too modified
All that to be at the tail end of the grid

GT4->GTL Ford Fiesta, tub car, 1600 2V pushrod
Was consistent top 3 car at CenDiv & GLDiv Nats back when we had decent fields
Consistent top 10 Runoffs car
SIR killed my interest in the class , I sense I am not alone in that regard :(

Hello Bill!

glad you chimed in.
other locals to add:

Dean Patterson G-prod Chevette- Michigan- car sitting on trailer since G-prod was killed

Dick Noonan, Toyota Tercel GT4-Michigan - Runs "GT-X" at Waterford, it appears he is not interested in a S.I.R.

Butch and Erin Wollesen-Cassiday, Michigan -
Possess 3 GT-5 Minis . Ted and Mary (R.I.P.) former rides plus ex-Joe Camerelli ( spelling ?- sorry Joe ) Funds and time in the way, more than anything.

Out of area
Did Jack Beck GT-5 Alfa or Jay Iliohan ever race in GT-L ?
I think they where done when the class changed.

I am betting Bill can add more sitting locals/ in the division than myself.

I sorta feel i should have added H-prod , even though it's still alive.
Wonder how many former "original in H-prod cars" are also sitting after the G-prod kill.

Jack Beck still has his car but says he will cut into pieces before he races another SCCA event with it. I think it was always the most beautiful GT5 car on the track.

Yep, sounds like Jack.
I agree, his car will always be my favorite.
Goes from racing one of coolest cars in the country, to attending tractor pulls.
Who knew that Alfa and John Deere had that much in common?

Not sure what happened to Illohan. He did have a very well known engine builder develop SIR engines but I don't think he has since raced or had them raced. That car had also been updated with a Hewland sequential, newer shocks yet again, etc. Problem with cars like his and Becks is that with the class struggling so, and with no where else to race them if GTL goes away, their whole programs probably wouldn't sell for more than the cost of a single engine. If I were in that position I would probably just keep the car around for sentimental value.

3 years ago Illohan offered a tubeframe Alfa GT5 car parked for 20 years with badly blown engine and unknown gearbox for I think 12k? and not negotiable. I would bet that car is still sitting in the same place and available. It had the Beck GTV body you all like but which is not aerodynamic at all. Certainly a brick compared to Illohan's Alfetta.

I see this one often ....

When I last talked with Joe he was racing in the Monterey Historics at Laguna Seca in a Jensen Healey and was driving an MGB there as well. I think he said they supported 8 cars during the race weekend.

I have Peter Quenets GT5 Anglia. I hope to have it out next year --- but that’s what I said last year, ------- and the year before that………

How about CLASSIC PRODUCTION classes? Since there is a class for so many cars, why not a set of classes that focuses on the cars that are in existence waiting to get back on the track. EP, FP, GP, HP, GT4, GT5...

I like it!!!
