This is the least of the problems facing SCCA.

Jon Late at night when I can't sleep, and even the Prod Forum won't put me out, I pick up my trusty copy of Don Quixote and just dream of the windmills I'll smash.

OK, I'll admit that's a good post. It's a shame that the upper quote is true.

Most guys on prodracing know my name is David Mead. I have been involved with SCCA since 92 and prod since 94. May I inquire as to your name?

I am one of the many who got screwed when the Runoffs opened the floodgates to the number of competitors allowed. Despite winning my division I was having to try and learn MidO when any 10th place finisher in CenDiv had an advantage over me. It didn't help when practice and qualifying became 3 lap sessions as someone would inevitably end up in China beach, thus ending the session.

SCCA turned the Runoffs into a cash cow and I did the same. You don't make money doing it but it allows me to visit with my friends who still take the Runoffs seriously, without spending a bunch to do it. It helps if you run products and classes with contingencies.

Only recently have I been fielding cars for others as finances have allowed. Contingencies and no wrecks are the order of the day to keep the free rides rolling. The Runoffs tow fund just keep the Runoffs from being cost prohibitive. Our group had 2 motorhomes and 7 cars to get to the event. It ain't cheap.
