Unless something unforseen crops up, I will be glad to do some cooking. I'm still bummed that I missed last year due to toterhome engine problems (incompetent truck shop-blown motor). I check the piggy bank to see what I can come up with $ wise.

Don,
Many thanks. have a safe trip over.

I'll start the ball on $ with 50.00 and volunteer to cook. May also be able to bring some Memphis BBQ.

Rob,
Sweet. I just drove through Memphis and stopped at Tom's BBQ.....YUM!

Thanks for the support and we'll put a spatula in your hand at the "Grill of Death".

While NO man can tame the grill of death, "Golden Spatula" Gauper can control it long enough to cook dinner!

Shhhh.....don't tell anyone......but the other HP guys have all gotten together and conspired to make sure Greg gets overheated, dehydrated and singes his eyebrows so he can't get to the false grid five days later. It'll be tough and it'll require a concerted effort from all of us....but it's doable. I need to make sure Moser, Albin, Bartell and Griffin all get caught as well. Tomaine dogs for all of them.

Ptomaine?

What can I say....I'm a chemist not a microbiologist. Now you know why this plan has such a high probability of success.

Back on topic....let's see the donations and volunteers start streaming in folks.

Dayle

So far we've had just one donation. This party is for the Worker Tow Fund and they deserve better. C'mon folks....this gig isn't going organize and pay for itself. I can't do it alone. I need your help. Let's get things rolling as we have only four weeks to get this out together.

Dayle

Maybe you should institute a Mafia-style donation policy.... donate $50 to the cause, or someone will ensure you get the ptomaine dog... :-[...

Just to review: the party is on Wednesday and it is where?

We haven't had a location picked out yet. I've offered....but I'm out in the boonies by the Sargento Bridge. If there's a volunteer with a more central location, we can do it there. If not, I'll volunteer to host.

And, yes, it's Wednesday evening.

I can't make the runoffs, but having been a flagger back when I'll toss in $25.
Where can I send a check or paypal?

L

Many thanks to all who kicked in today.

A check can be sent to my home address at 703 Pine Ridge Drive in DeWitt, Mi 48820. A PayPal payment can be sent to my email address at frameh@msu.edu. Be sure and use the 'personal' tab so I don't pay a fee for the donation.

Great News,

Johnsonville has one again stepped up to the plate. This year's main course will consist of Brats AND Italian sausages. :applause: :applause: :applause: :applause: :applause: :applause: :applause: :applause: :applause:

I'll provide the first keg of beer, and Jim Simaris will bring the large grill (which he took back for me last year and I never picked up!)

Steve Smycek
Was #17, then El Siete, now #31...go figure

Great work as always, Steve-O.

Now the rest of us just need to hold up our end of the deal. Please keep the donations coming in. Many thanks to the folks who have generously sent in contributions. You know who you are and I thank you very much.

We can still use a few things:
1. Does anyone have a line on getting soda pop cheap (friends of a distributor, etc.)?
2. We could use some infrastructure. Tables to serve dishes on, tubs for beer, soda, etc.

Since we haven't found a better, more centrally located site, I'll make a command decision and offer our paddock spots. We (Matt Brannon, Kris Larson and myself) are in spaces 801-804. Thats in Sargento South which is drivers left just before the Sargento Bridge. As of this writing, the spaces opposite us are taken so we'll have to be good neighbors. But there will be plenty of parking and elbow room for a lot of folks.

Let's add some variety to this as well. Bring a six or twelve pack of local micro brew to the oparty and we'll have a "Microbrews of the USA" tub or two.

So here's what we have lined up:
Date/Time: Wednesday, September 19th at 6:30P
Location: Sargento South 801-804
Menu: Johnsonville Brats & Italian Sausages, the usual side items, sidas and a variety of beer
Fee: $5 person, workers get in FREE

Did I miss anything?

I could bring a 6' folding table by Dayle.
As for beer/soda tubs, I've found that a few 24" square, heavy cardboard boxes with the large black yard garbage bags can actually hold quite a bit of ice and drinks. As long as the bags don't develop a leak...

Oh, and a donation will be headed your way soon.
