Prod/GTL Party?

Edit: A suggestion (and a good one I might add) was made to post the party details here so here they are.

Date / Time: Wednesday, September 19th at 6:30
Location: Sargento South Paddock, Spaces 801 - 804 (west side of the track just south of the bridge)
Cost: $5 a head with ALL proceeds going to the Worker Tow Fund
Menu: Brats and Italian Sausages with all the fixings

I'll be roaming the paddock schmoozing and handing our flyers on Sunday and Tuesday (I'm working a corner on Monday) so I can take donations if you'd like to contribute.

If you can, please bring a dish to suppliment our menu (we can always use deserts and veggies)

===========================================================

Well I guess it's that time of year again. The Prod/GTL Party needs volunteers to pop up and make this happen. I'll stick my neck out and collect the funds but we also need a date/time, location, cooks, donations, etc.

As for a date and time…..the schedule is unkind this year. Both Wednesday and Thursday have some of us on track during the last session. I'm thinking that Thursday works better. That way we can announce the party at the Worker Party ion Wednesday. Thoughts?

Location: If nobody else volunteers, we could host this gig at our camp. Matt Brannon, Rob Bax and I are sharing a HUGE compound near the Sargento Bridge (801-804). There will be plenty of space for parking, schmoozing, etc. Plus its on the way from the main paddock to the worker campground area and they could stumble in as the roll down hill. Again, thoughts?

Donations: We need a variety of things. Soda pop, beer, food, grills, etc. I will accept cash donations two ways. One, mail a check to me (703 Pine Ridge Drive, DeWitt, MI 48820) or two, send funds via PayPal to my email address (frameh@msu.edu). PLEASE use the personal tab so I don't pay a fee to accept your donation.

Remember why we're doing this: We're raising money to support the Worker Tow Fund which, of course, doesn't exist. Those folks spend a lot of their hard earned vacation time and effort to support our hobby and it’s the very least we could do to give something back to them.. Last year we gave away almost $2400 and I had the privilege of handing out all that cash to a bunch of VERY happy workers. We're the ones they know….not SM…not SRF….not FV…..Prod and GTL teams. I had chills when Ms. Flanagan read the names and those folks came up and shook my hand. I even got a couple of hugs. NICE! Let's see if we can beat that record….c'mon, I double dog dare you!

For those of you who can't make it, think about sending in a contribute anyway as this is a way to support the workers who help you out all season long.

So think about this and dig deep when it comes to supporting our friends in the Worker Corps. ANY donation will be accepted whether its monetary of tangible (food, etc.). I'll make an identical post on the GTL site and invite them to this gig. I know they feel the same way.

Please contact me via PM, email (frameh@msu.edu) or call (517.575.9450) if you have ANY questions.

See you in September.

Just an fyi, both Mazda and Toyota are having their parties on Thursday. Tuesday would have the least impact on any Prod classes, and allow you to hand out money at the Wed WOY party. .

Yes, but the SCCA Welocme Party in EL is Tuesday evening too. Like I said, the schedule is unkind. It's a 'lesser of three evils' situation.

I thought the EL party was the Participant Party on Fri?

Not an easy call, but I think you would lose a lot of people to the Mazda party.

As Mazda has 85% of the EP cars and a fair number of FP cars, I see your point and I think I agree. Wednesday it is.

Now all we need is a location, food, beer, soda, money, cooks, grills......

Not to mention the fact you would lose two or three to people to the Toyota party.

HUH? Wed is the WOY party.

You and Barrie are more than welcome to hide out at our place (801-804) next to the Sargento Bridge. I'll have plenty of cooler space for the pies.

So what's the consensus?
Wednesday night; Workers go to WOY and eat, more food for us and they come late to drawing.
OR they come to Prod Party and shun SCCA WOR.
Thursday night; Mazda and Toyota drivers go to parties, more food for workers and us other drivers.
I'd vote for Wednesday; SCCA caused this mess.

My take is that workers will go to the WotY gig and then come by ourparty afterwards. They have done that in the past. So let's make it wednesday and move on.

Back on topic....do we have volunteers to be cooks, etc.? Would someone like to offer a more centrally located space to hold the party? Any donations for soda, beer, food, etc.? Lets get the ball rolling, folks.

How Ironic...the Wounded Turtle has offered to "stick my neck out and collect the funds but we also need a date/time, location, cooks, donations, etc."

If the goal is to raise money, we shouldn't worry about feeding the workers. If the goal is to include them, let's rent a chocolate fountain and serve desert so they have an incentive (other than beer and the "cool guys" in the paddock) to come over after their event.

I'll contact my friends and see what I can get. Jim Simaras still has the large and unruly grill from last year so I'm sure he would love to bring it up.

The goal is to raise money. Few of the workers actually come to the dinner part. They usually show up for beers later in the evening.

Unless something unforseen crops up, I will be glad to do some cooking. I'm still bummed that I missed last year due to toterhome engine problems (incompetent truck shop-blown motor). I check the piggy bank to see what I can come up with $ wise.

I'll start the ball on $ with 50.00 and volunteer to cook. May also be able to bring some Memphis BBQ.
