MAM ?

Latest news is that the track inspector can not get to inspect MPH until after Aug 19th. Who is doing track inspections now???

sounds just like the military - never can find out who "they" are

I have found out that Ken Paterson is the inspector for Midiv tracks. NR is working to get another inspector to check the track from another division or an outside company.

The track needs inspecting? Hasn't there been SCCA races already this year.

Some times I don't understand the Regional / National differences.

This is an exigent situation, for an act of nature.

MPH had a double regional there last year. Some things were pointed out that needed to be corrected which my understanding has been done. I have seen pictures of the additional curbing that was requested but I have not seen what they are doing for pre grid and tech area. I have not heard of really any track safety issues.

You are correct Jon this is an exigent (great word Jon) situation and NR is trying to work through the process. Racers and workers need to show their support to make sure our wishes are heard.

At this time MAM does not look like they will be open for the Aug dates and the region really can't want until the last minute to make the switch to MPH.

More of Jerry's photos showing flooding at MAM

I hope that the "offical" statement was a positive:

I believe we (NR board members) got an"official" statement e-mail today......I also believe all the issues with the track have been addressed and will be waiting for final discussion and inspection with a steward for approval The only issue may be whether or not we'll still get worker support and committment from other region's workers at MPH, the same as we've supported them in their earlier events and in previous years.

I would think everyone, ie workers and drivers, would show up and show support for this move. I'll be there.

ps, thanks a ton for the cd pics of the car Ron!

We'll be there with EP#88. I think some others from Colo will as well. I'll do my best to rustle up some F&C folks. Keep us posted when registration opens.

This would be great, but.......

Where is official announcement?/schedule?

Same date?

Is it still MidDiv?

Still a double national?

Thanks,

There is no official announcement yet from NR. The national office has been in contact with NR BoD and NR is working to get the finial inspection done at MPH. The race is planned to be on the same dates and still a double national.

I have been asking is that if you support having this race be a double national at MPH to let the national office know. You can also contact the NR Bod at http://www.nrscca.com/contact.php or http://www.nrscca.com/officers.php?PHPSESSID=def49f8449de47f24ef4474a6a531c65

Thank You Again Ron! Jesse & Karl, Thanks for your support! Cant wait to see ya guys!
If any one would like to help and have scca (EDIT:) National credentials, I will personally give you a kiss, or a beer... I will know exactly what positions will need to be filled Monday or Tuesday. We have been preparing to have the N/N/it/it at MAM, waiting for the flood, when they evacuated MAM, we started the ball rolling for MPH!

A few things about MPH: Some of the nicest racer showers/bathrooms ever! A 20 foot fire ring powered by hypnotizing propane(not needed in Aug but cool), We hopefully have a full tilt Race Shop (at the track) completed by the race, with a run-flat tire machine, Mill & Lathe, Car Lift(s), A/C, Scales, alignment tools, mig & Tig, and much more.. There is a condo at the track available to rent for the weekend..
The Paddock is nicer than most tracks, George runs a top notch facility!
Kitty's Road House has the best BBQ Pizza I have ever had! (Shameless plug for my new sponsor)

Hastings also has an I-Max theater, Very nice water park, and many other family oriented attractions!

We are trying to get our car finished for this event, if we can't, going up to work a corner for the weekend (or any other schlep job - I have never worked a corner before) to help get the race in will be in order for me. This is a bit personal as there is nothing that I can do for my brother...he owns Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City and the levy breached there - http://www.lakesidespeedway.net/ - it shows the picture of the track on the home page. The best thing I can do is support our local SCCA groups.

Sorry to hear about your brother's situation Kirk! Let me know if you need any thing, I hope you can race! But working T3-T4 or T8 is a hoot at MPH! both 90-100mph corners!

You will be on my "Beer List" either way!

Sounds good Ron! VW-Ville was going to be in charge of the Friday night dinner @ MAM, MPH also... Saturday night is up to US! Let me know!

Baked Potato & Bacon Cannon? Grill your meat on your engine contest? Spin the Wheel of Misfortune! Have the wheel choose what you eat....
Fruit salad, green salad, Gatorade & a chicken breast, may be the sensible combo for august...Beer: Miller 64, Bud Light Lime, low cal & low alcohol...

I did get an e-mail from Lisa Noble last night. She understands the issues and she has been talking Division’s Executive Steward, Ken Patterson to work to get a resolution so racers and workers can make plans to support this race.

Looking at the current national points standings some MidDiv racers may not qualify for the Runoffs with out these two national races. All drivers must have a minimum of 2 in Division starts and 4 finishes. With out these two national races there were only 5 MidDiv national races, HPT is this weekend would be the last one. Some will have to go outside the Division to get their 4 finishes to qualify which will require a longer tow then to MPH. Lisa Noble is registered for the National at HPT so some people may want to stop over and have a talk. I am sure that Ken Patterson will also be there too.

Here are the national races left on the schedule
Date Event Venue Region/State
7/17/2011 Kansas / Kansas City July National Heartland Park, Topeka Kansas Region

I'm not saying this would 100% be the case in 2011, but when SoPac lost a double late in the 2010 schedule, the Board relaxed its 2 starts in Division requirement. You still needed your 4 finishes, but the In-Division requirements were relaxed because people didn't have the opportunity to get it done. Again, I'm not saying this WOULD happen, but there was precedent last year.

I am running HPT this weekend to earn my 2nd In-division start. I have 4 finishes and enough points in National points, but only one start was in MiDiv.
