2014 Production Car Festival...the 10th annual Prod Fest!

Sure wish between NC and CFR they could come up with a way not to schedule their Oct events on the same weekend. The Oct CFR race is the year end points race and the Prod Fest sounds like a whole lot of fun. O'well...

Bob

Here is more info, from Sam Fouse, NCRegion board member:

Here's the almost final final:

This year's Goblins Go will be a double SARRC. It will also be a double ECR/TCPS, but they are running together each day, not separately, so we are 8 race groups total. I think we usually run 7 race groups at a normal SARRC event anyway.

The prod 'group' will remain a standalone group, but I'm still awaiting confirmation that the Prod Fest sub-group will continue to run completely alone on Sunday which will pare it further to just EP, FP, HP & GTL.
The entry fee will be $195 for the first race (same as last year), $145 for the second. This is a bigger multi-race discount ($50) than what we've offered in the past ($25).
We are group 4 this year and this is our schedule:
Saturday: 20-minute qualifying at 9:05; 25 minute race at 2:45
Sunday: 20-minute qualifying at 8:55; 25 minute race at 2:20

Now all we have to do is fill the track!
We'll be working on a direct e-mail ad campaign with probably two or three 'mailings' as we get closer.
We now have a direct e-mail database of all licensed drivers in both SEDIV and NEDIV, so we can get the message out.

Is registration for this on DLB? I can't find it.

Rob,
I have not looked for registration yet, but if it is out there, it will probably be on motorsportsreg.com as that is what NCR uses.

Barrie/Mark:
The latest on the entry fees.

Just got this. There had been an ongoing 'discussion' about the fee and multi-race discount structure for this event. It has now been decided in favor of a progressively increasing discount scale. So, if a prod/gt car enters the Saturday race for $195, they can now run the Prod Fest the next day for 145 bucks, cheap! That's $340 total for two days, two races.

Sam

All,
...the fee structure for 2014's Goblins Go:
SARRC $195, ECR $295, TCPS $250, $50 discount for the second race, $75 for the third and $100 for the fourth. Thanks for all your input...

OK, we've been vacillating on whether to announce this now but have decided it's time.

This will our (Barrie & Mark) last Prod Fest as organizers. After 10 years, it's a been a great run. But it's time to move on.

Neither of us is involved in SCCA racing anymore and we have moved onto other hobbies. Barrie is actively involved in Eventing, an equestrian sport, and I'm busy with RC planes, helis, and RC car racing. We do enjoy seeing everyone each year at VIR but it just doesn't make sense for us to continue as the "head honchos" of the Prod Fest.

If ANYONE would like to take over the reins (no pun intended!), we would be happy to help with the various things that are involved. Things such as t-shirt creation & sales, party planning, working with the NCRegion with scheduling, etc.

If we can't find anybody to take over, then we'll probably just make this one the last and BEST one!

We'll say our proper "goodbyes" at the Prod Fest!

Thanks to everyone for their support, encouragement, and participation in the Prod Fests over the years. Together, we have all created a unique event and we hope everyone has enjoyed attending our little parties over the years.

Mark & Barrie

Never been to the Prod Fest.
Thanks go out to Berrie and Mark as the organizers and handlers. :applause:
Mark, as you enter new recreational activities, it's been fun since your IT days.

Hi All!

This is Barrie since I seem to be having login issues…

We are now getting into the crazy time of organizing! Less than two months away.

I am thinking about doing some sort of "goodie bag" for each racer vs. the raffle thing because I can do it ahead of time and everyone will get something. BUT, I NEED to get any goodies that people want to donate SENT TO ME AHEAD OF TIME. This can be any item or any company logo item that would be fun (read: FREE advertising!) or even anything you'd like to "regift" that is in like new condition. Does not have to be racing related, just things people can use.

I don't know how many racers there will be, but let's estimate about 30 or 40. Any unused items can be returned to the donators (for instance, if you send me 50 pens and we only need 30).

Here is our address for shipping:

Shirts are being worked on and cost for class sponsors (all spoken for) should be known soon and I don't anticipate much change in cost from last year.

Still mulling podium prizes…we have the medals already (THANK YOU RICK STARKWEATHER!!!), we have done the watches and jackets before. I'd be happy to do any of that again or maybe logo bag chairs or posters. although for posters, it will be difficult since I do not have any photoshop type s/w. :( But whatever we do, I must make a decision VERY soon.

I am open and most grateful for any ideas people have. Item and cash donations are always make things so much easier. We basically break even each year after bills are paid, which is by design.

And don't forget PLN award nominees (and reason why)!! :)

And I would like to say THANK YOU so much for all the support and kind words we have received over the years. If not for that, this would have ended a long time ago. Everyone's appreciation has been amazing.

here is my email if you need to reach me - barrie2@bellsouth.net

I wish I could come up with something for the goodie bags but, being a government drone, all I can think of would be 50 memo pads, or 50 little plastic bags of paperclips, and I would not take them regardless.
I have a very taxing travel schedule coming up, but for damned sure will try and make the 10th Anniversary Prodfest for the first time in my racing career.

(Barrie here)

Mike, I worked for the govt for 15 yrs. I understand. :)

Some donations are coming in for the racer goodie bags ("swag bags"!), but we need some more. I am going to put them together ahead of time, so please send them to me at:

Barrie Coffin
110 Windsong Hills Dr
Mills River, NC 28759

Thanks in advance!!

p.s. Shirt design is just about done and will be sent out for preorders within the next day or two.

Ok everyone, Prod Fest 10th anniversary and FINAL Prod Fest shirts are ready for pre-order!!
I MUST have your pre-orders by Oct. 1st. I will have a few extras on-site for sale, but not many.

Am going with boring old white shirts this year BECAUSE one of the colors in the design is white, so that will save us one extra color fee (well, two really. One front, one back). And please let me know if any names are not spelled correctly. Sweatshirts, however, will NOT be white. They will be either a natural or ash gray.

Will attach the front of the design here and then the back via the next post.

A million thanks go to Tom Kaczmarek (aka Prod Fest Grill Master Extraodinaire) for pulling the design together for me. He actually also created the design for the Prod Fest medals which is what we used (mostly) for the front of this year's shirt. And he created the back design based off of my "idea" stolen from a Masters golf t-shirt I saw.

Prices for shirts are the same as last year:
short sleeve T - $17 (S-XL), $19 (XXL) and $20 (3X)
long sleeve T - $20 (S-XL), $22 (XXL) and $23 (3X)
sweatshirt - $25 (S-XL), $27 (XXL) and $29 (3X)

Let me know which type of shirt, quantities and sizes. Barrie2@bellsouth.net Shipping is about $5.50 for a single shirt, more for additional shirts or sweats. Once I get ready to ship after Prod Fest, I can get your zip and give you the exact amount. If you are going to pick up at Prod Fest, then obviously no shipping needed.

Payments can be sent to me at:
Barrie Coffin
110 Windsong Hills Dr
Mills River, NC 28759

OR via PayPal to:
scirocco14gp (at) bellsouth.net but, please put PF in the notes AND check "Gift" so that we do not incur fees.

or of course, you can pay at Prod Fest although i have to pay for everything up front, so any $ I can get early is great! :)

Just a reminder that I need all Prod Fest shirt orders by EOB Wednesday, Oct. 1st.

Here is a recap of the prices. Please let me know how many and which type of shirt. Larger sizes (up to 6X) are available for a couple more $. Short and long sleeved Ts will be white, sweatshirts will be gray.

Design can be seen in previous reply. Front has been altered to say "10th Anniversary".

I will happily ship. It's usually about $5.50 for one or two shirts. A little more beyond that or for sweatshirts (they are heavier/bulkier). If you give me your zip, I can quote you a price. Shipping will happen AFTER Prod Fest.

short sleeve T - $17 (S-XL), $19 (XXL) and $20 (3X)

Thank you to everyone who has already ordered!

An important reminder - there are TWO prod/GTL only races at Goblins' Go. One on Saturday and one on Sunday. Both are Group 4.

The SUNDAY race is the "official" Prod Fest race with the special Prod Fest awards. The regular SCCA/NCR awards will, of course, be given for both races.

The only reason I mention this is because there are a few more people signed up for the Saturday prod/GTL race than the Sunday prod/GTL race, which is fine (they may want to leave early). But I just wanted to remind people that the "official" Prod Fest race is Group 4 on SUNDAY. If you know these folks, please let them know. I do not have email addresses for them.

and here is the reg site. go to "view current entry list" (upper right) to see who is registered for each day's race.

The 2014 Prod Fest Champions:

EP - Randy Carter
FP - Michael Weedon
HP - Sam Moore
GTL - Ryan Downey

Congrats to all the winners! The race weekend was GORGEOUS and perfect for racing. I hope everyone had as much fun as it looked like.

The Smoking Loon award went to poor Kevin Leigh, as his engine expired during the race on Saturday while battling for the lead. :-[...

The "Crusher" award went to Grayson Upchurch as his car apparently ran out of gas while leading on Saturday and lost an transmission or broke a rear axle in Sunday's race.

And the "1" award went to Randy Carter for winning Saturday's SARRC race. He swept the weekend in EP. :applause:

THANK YOU to everyone who has supported the Prod Fest during the last 10 years. Barrie and I have really, really, REALLY enjoyed putting it on for everyone. The NC Region will DEFINITELY keep the race going in the future, so please put it on your calendar for 2015 and beyond. As far as the party, awards, trophies, goodies, etc., we're working on finding people who are willing to take the baton and continue that tradition as well.

It's been a great ride, and we'll see you at races in the future. Just when you least expect it.
