Prod Party anyone?

After consulting with Deanna at MIS this past weekend, we agreed that Tuesday would be the best day (actually the least objectionable choice) for the party. So Tuesday it is. This may interfere with our ability to entertain the worker corps but it allows us to not get stepped on by the Mazda gig. We can start at 6:00.

We still need donations to support the cause. I have had several come in since my last post (thanks to Phil, Sam, Leanna, Rob, Ed and Paul). But we have a long way to go.

I'll start an RSVP thread so we get an idea of the headcount. Please let us know if you can attend and how many will be joining you (one response for car entered). The more accurately we know how many are coming, the more effectively we can spend the donation funds (and the greater our "worker tow fund" can be).

As for beer.....let's do what we did in 2013 at RA. You can't sling a dead cat without hitting a microbrewery anymore so lets get creative. Buy a 12 pack of your favorite local brew (no Bud, Miller, Coors, etc.) and we'll have tubs to ice it down. That way we'll have a "beers from around the country" theme. With folks coming from all over the place, there should be a wide variety of stuff to choose from at the dinner.

I love Beer Potluck's! Will definitely bring some stuff for that, and get some cash donated. The Prod Party is always a highlight of the Runoffs week!

Wish I could attend! Just sent you some PayPal $$ to support the cause. Celebrate well everyone, be safe, go fast, take chances. I'll see you on the track next year! Consider it a selfish attempt to generate some good karma for next season -

The GTL / Prod Party is rolling along. Donations are coming in as well as RSVPs. Keep up the good work. We can use all the help we can get. So keep the donations coming.

According to the SCCA posted Runoffs schedule, the workers dinner is Tuesday night. This is going to be a conflict with some of us who would have liked to attend. Toni & I are both expected to be at the worker dinner as are the Directors, etc. When Toni was doing the prod party, we did it on Sunday night as a kick off to the week. Of course, this year we have the tech get together scheduled for Sunday night. What was the conflict for Monday night?

I realize Tuesday interferes with some who are working....but each night had its own issues.

Monday: We wouldn't have much time to get things arranged, spread the word, etc.
Tuesday: Workers occupied by the SM session.
Wednesday: Mazda dinner

It was a lesser of three evils. Somebody's feathers had to be ruffled. Time was running out and a decision had to be made. I didn't get a whole lot of input on the subject so I made it.

Come on you cheapskates. My new car is in pieces, I'm not even an SCCA Member (this year) and I'm in for $25.

Thanks a bunch Bill.....not only for the donation but for the spirit of the message.

Looks like we're gonna be cooking this food ourselves folks. That's nothing new....but unlike the past years at RA where had GrillZilla, we'll be doing this on garden variety home grills.

If you plan on taking a grill to DIS, then please consider volunteering it for the cause. Email me off line (hdf3.wtr80@gmail.com) and let me know if you can pony up a grill (and propane) for a couple of hours.

We could use some grillmasters too. Horrell, Walsh, Gauper....I'm talking to you guys. You've always been manning the coals when it mattered. Anyone else wanna step up and join the Smoke Brigade? We'll have bikini chicks to fan the smoke away and towel the sweat off. I will PERSONALLY be checking the qualifications of these volunteers. it will be time consuming and arduous but nothing will stop me for supporting this effort.

On a more serious note, we have over $800 in the kitty and that is a very good start....but we need more to match the $2000 donation we made last year out at Laguna Seca. Surely our friends in the SEDiv can match the efforts of our colleagues on the left coast.

Gee guys, Lite beer goes really well with hot weather, and my car is a little over weight. Plus, now that I'm 50 (years old, not pounds over weight), its hard to drink 15 or 20 of those micro brews!

Bump......

I'm leaving for Daytona on Thursday morning and I thought I'd reignite the conversation about the GTL/Prod party.

1. The party will be held at the compound of Peter Zekert and Peter Shadowen at 6p on Tuesday evening. $5 per guest

2. We need another grill or two to cook the food. We have 400 sausages and that'll take at least a combined grill surface area of 6ft2. Anyone? if not, don't bitch about having a cold sausage at 9p.

3. Please bring a 6 or 12 pack of microbrew beer from your home area for the "Beer Potluck". We did this at RA a couple of years ago and it was a blast.

4. In addition to the beer, we'll supply water and a few varieties of Coke products. If you want something other than that (wine, margaritas, etc.) bring it yourself.

5. While we have the funds for the food and non alcoholic beverages, we can always use more donations. Remember, ALL proceeds will go to the Worker Corps. They volunteer so we can play with our cars. it is the very least we can do to show our support for their efforts. And NOTHING is more fun than poking fun at our SM, SRF, FF, T3, etc. colleagues at the "Worker of the Year" dinner on Thursday evening with the SCCA brass looking on. PayPal me your donations at hdf3.wtr80@gmail.com.

Safe travels.....

I can do some grilling. My grill is not large but can probably put about 15-20 sausages on it at a time.

Thanks Phil. That'll help out a bunch. I'll swing by your spot on Sunday and work out the logistics.

Does anyone have any crew spots open? My son and I will be up on Tuesday to help with the party. Would be helpful if we did not have to shell out $40 a pop to get in.

If you can help us out, I greatly appreciate it.

A final wrap up for the GTL/Prod party held at the Runoffs.

We collected $1691 (after expenses). We divided that into 41 $40 gifts and one $51 gift. Not as much as in year's past but a solid effort. Many thanks to all involved.

We did our damnedest to insure that the recipients traveled a long way and that non air conditioned workers got the bulk of the gifts.

As a recipient of one of the prizes, THANK YOU! My brother in-law and I both appreciate the money. It was a long train ride from Oregon. G

My wife who worked in Registration all week was also a recipient of one of your envelopes. She was very pleased and thanks you all.
