December 2025 Fastrack

Formula 2 and 3 used an engine based on a Ford 1.6L...yet we don't fear Escorts.

Super Vee used the VW 1.6L engine...yet we don't fear Rabbits.

Formula F uses the Honda 1.5L engine...yet we don't fear Honda Fits.

Spec Racer used the 1.6L Renault engine...yea sorry, bad example.

Maybe all those are irrational, too.

Formula 2 and 3 used an engine based on a Ford 1.6L...yet we don't fear Escorts. SCCA doesn't have direct experience with these applications. Also, the Club has direct experience with various Ford 1.6L engines in FF making stock HP.

Super Vee used the VW 1.6L engine...yet we don't fear Rabbits. Seriously? Where, in SCCA Road Racing is that engine still being used?

Formula F uses the Honda 1.5L engine...yet we don't fear Honda Fits. And the FF Fit engine is making very close to stock HP with no changes to compression.

Spec Racer used the 1.6L Renault engine...yea sorry, bad example.

Maybe all those are irrational, too.

Sometimes a cigar is just a smoke.

It is very disappointing after I’ve missed 2 seasons to get a new shoulder and then a torn Achilles tendon repaired. The Miata’s have been the benchmark for a long time. The part that I see is making it easier for the Mazda’s (but spend a bunch of money) and making the Honda/Acura cars continue to try and make up for the weight being added and the restrictors being added and increasing the cost and decreasing the reliability. It appears to me we are coming full circle with Prod cars becoming ticking time bombs and changing things every year for us to spend money. It was my impression that we created LP to correct having motors that were bombs and having to constantly chase the increase given to other cars in class.

Write your letter to the CRB asking them to rescind the Miata adjustment. There's a small chance they might before too many people start making the adjustment
