Top is Dick Stockton in his Triumph TR4 leading a Lotus Super Seven at the defunct Vineland Speedway. Dick raced this car in 1964 and 1965, with a Glen 500 win (co-driving with Bob Tullius), a ARRC pole and race leader until overdrive failure (5th place finish). Buzz Marcus then raced this car to success. Some old time Prod racers may know Dick from his BP Cobra he raced in 1969-1970 (ARRC 2nd place).

Bottom is Kyle Disque in the same car (again owned and prepped by Dick at 85yo) leading a Super Seven at NJMP this past weekend. NJMP is the spiritual successor to Vineland Speedway and only about 10 miles away from the old location.

Funny how things like that work.

Some video..

Saturday: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=THsHEiI1LzU&t=9s (drying track). Kyle did a 1:36.560 to Todd's 1:35.632. Kyle won in traffic.

Sunday: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-VgCi4kJJk0&t=7s (dry track). Kyle did a 1:34.365 to Todd's 1:34.175. Both on lap 4. That lap starts at the 5:20 mark. Kyle again used traffic and some local yellows to his advantage.

From the second place (Todd Reid) Super 7:

I prefer to think that I used skill, guile, and subterfuge to win. But traffic ... yeah ... that helped ... a little.

1965 (the year that picture was taken) is the year I was born!

Amazing what you can find on the interwebz.

Here is a page with the results from that Vineland race (in a nicer format than current SCCA "Majors" - LOL).

The newspaper clipping says that it rained that weekend too! LOL!

Here are the results. Looks like the Lotus won that one (in a different class). Some "familiar" names in that race!
