This weekend races. Summit, Roebling, Daytona .

This is on the agenda for the Mid Year SEDiv BOD meeting. We have rules in SARRC to prevent this but the Daytona race is not a SARRC race so the rule did not apply. It's less than 250 miles between the two tracks. SARRC rules require more than 450 miles. Example VIR and Daytona are 600 miles apart.

...and Summit is 600 miles from Roebling. And Hallet is 1,000 miles from Roebling. It's a big country...

But we have similar mixed blessings in the Northeast. We have NHMS, Thomspon, Palmer, and Lime Rock all within short drives of each other, with Watkins Glen and NJMP (and Pocono) not that far away. None of those tracks have a problem pitting groups against each other. Lime Rock, for example, is having a big VSCCA event the same weekend as NER's opening weekend at NHMS (and both are looking for flaggers). Gridlife is at Watkins Glen the same weekend as the PittRace Majors (which one you goin' to?) Lime Rock is holding Gridlife the same weekend as the Thompson Majors.

And those are but only three bright examples.

Tracks are in control of our schedules now. They have high demand and hand out their meager rations to the highest bidders and they have zero f***s to give if it causes a conflict with another event at another track. "Take it or leave it"...and if you decide to leave it then they have three other groups willing to buy the weekend.

Just wait 'til more tracks start "pulling a VIR" and make us hire their flaggers. It started with Safety, it's moving to flaggers, so how long before it moves to paying stewards to run the whole show?

The motorsports world is a different place now. - GA
