Spriget front spindle

Today while checking front wheel bearings I found I have a damaged spindle. Anyone have a spare Winners circle left front spindle? I’m going to contact them tomorrow but I thought I’d check in case they don’t have one in stock. The stub axle is loose in the housing, no indication of the stub being damaged. Any comments about re welding ?

Why not use a late model 1275 spindle....forging # is BTA 746/747 I believe. Many raceres have used these with good results. It seems like Rick Haynes (FP Midget) taught us this trick. Does anyone agree or disagree with this?

I agree that the late model 1275 spindles works well. I used the Winner Circle style spindles for many years with success. After finding cracks in the welds I found a set of late model 1275 spindles. They have now been working well for many years but have not reached the longevity the Winner Circle style spindles yet. I don't remember who recommended them.

Jay is spot on. These uprights have a better radius and are much stronger than the earlier ones. Easy to find a brit car places.

Thanks for the replys. i had heard about the late model spindles. The car has had WC spindles for the 9 or so years i have had it and no telling how much longer. No problems till now. WC had one in stock and it's on the way. if not that would have been the next option as welding didn't seem like a good idea.

I use WC spindles. I magnaflux them at least once a year. I usually find small cracks in the welds on the rear side, but grind them out and reweld. This hasn't caused any problems. Where were the cracks you saw?
