Spridget Rolling Start Dog Box Project/New Belt Drive Belts

I rarely use forums so forgive my unfamiliarity. I have received a number of inquires about rolling start ratios for the Spridget Dog Box I build. The racers that have contacted me have requested the following ratios: 1st 1.77 2nd 1.429 3rd 1.196. My manufacturer is willing to produce these gear kits. I requested an upgrade in material specification, and we agreed upon a high grade VAR alloy formerly used in F1. These gear kits would be the same kits listed on my webpage, but with the new ratios and upgraded material spec. I do not have a firm price as yet, but I estimate the cost for a fully built gearbox will be around $3,800 - $4,200. The only parts not replaced in this comprehensive gear kit are the shift rails and detent/lockout parts.

To get this project initiated, I will need the serious interest of at least 10 Spridget racers. If you have any questions or input, please contact me. I always enjoy discussing A Series Engine/Gearbox modification.

On another note. I just received my first batch of Japanese manufactured PowerGrip Belts for the Titan and S&H A Series Belt Drives. These belts have been unavailable for some time and many racers have felt the pinch.

Thank you for your time. Brian Waters

What do you consider "serious interest"?

Please post your email address so we can reach out to you. I'm in the middle of a Spridget project and the tranny is a minor mystery. The price seems to be right. What alloy are you using?

At half the price of a Taylor, that may be available some time, you should get some interest. Hope folks step up. John

Hello Gentlemen,

My email is bwrperformance@comcast.net, Cell: 503-730-8775, Phone: 503-530-8734 (had some troubles with this line).

Serious interest in the project would be a deposit of $2,600. At this time the price of the gear kit is not firm. I would not expect deposits until pricing is finalized, and I have a firm time table for completion. I feel fairly competent that an assembled gearbox, including the front cover with large seal can be done for $4,200.

The material is designated Bohler S156. This is a Vacuum ARC Remelted EN39C which places this material in the Super Alloy Class. This material was formerly used for F1 Racing gear sets until more current exotic alloys($$$) were developed. For comparison, many Spridget/Mini dog boxes are manufactured from standard EN36 (not a VAR alloy).

I am also having Mini Dog Box Sets manufactured in the same material with a single piece laygear and ultra close ratios. I race a Mini, and many of us have experienced catastrophic results with the Swiftune (Quaife) Dog Box Kits.

Yes, the rotating assemblies are amazing. We developed and have been using these for years. I firmly believe these to be the best A Series rotating assembly available.

If there are additional questions, please ask, call, email. I love to talk A Series Performance.

Brian ..... WOW  where you when I was racing an LBC with all the ultra trick and latest spiffy $$hit ?? Best of luck, looks like great stuff and prices look good !!!!
