Shifter mechanism

This probably qualifies at "tortured interpretation"... but just wanted to ask about shifting mechanisms.

The GCR is very clear about prohibiting "sequential shifting transmissions," but shift linkage is unrestricted.

If one maintained the stock "H" pattern transmission, but used a shifter mechanism that converted the "H" to sequential, would that be legal?

I do understand that without dog engagement the shifting will be just as slow as it it today. I'm more interested in a better way to avoid mis-shifts.

Shift linkage is unrestricted, as long as you do not create a sequential shifting transmission.
The rule does not prohibit a sequential transmission, it prohibits a sequential shifting transmission. On purpose. Doesn't matter, what you start out with. It cannot be a sequential shifting transmission. What you have proposed, in my opinion, is non-compliant.
