Absolutely interminable line waiting to get in. Haven't moved in half an hour. Did anyone think this through? Sorry but a little antsy after 9 days on the road and nothing else to do but complain.

Finally got in after 4 hours and have a nice spot so I'll shut up.
 
Ron, what was the hold up? They moved express tech out of the registration area because they said there was not room. I assumed there would be a lot of registrars handling sign in.

Toni went out a day early,Thursday night, so she could make sure the tech system for tech sign in was ready. She sent me a message that nothing was set up for tech yesterday afternoon. Hopefully, it was all ready to go this morning.

Last weekend at Daytona with nearly 300 cars at the SIC, the CFR folks opened registration three hours early and had everyone in the line into the track by the time registration was scheduled to open.

I better hush or I'll never get in on Monday! I'm up the mountains of western Va. and the high today is only 48 with a low tonight of 33. And saw it was snowing in Wisconsin yesterday. Looks like great weather at Salinas.

Ron, where did you end up in the paddock? Turns out, all of the standard 25x30 spots are in the DIRT in turn 5. ARGH. Even some of the larger 25x50 spots are in the dirt.

There will be "escorts" between the turn 5 paddock and the real paddock, so everybody should add at least 10-15 mins to get to grid to make up for this "feature"

Went out to the local Orchard Supply store, and got 2 ea 6x8 sheets of astro turf. Never been this far out in the weeds in racing for 20 years @ Laguna.

You'll also need to figure out getting fuel too.

Jim, we were told, at least the competitors in Giligans Island, NOT to try to do tech or get fuel until tomorrow afternoon or Monday, to allow for the people moving into to the regular paddock.

You got in the track in 4 hours? I sat in the line for 17.5 hrs. I arrived at 5:00pm Friday thinking the days line would be gone and I would get right in. Insted I found 1.5 miles of trailers waiting to be parked. Slept in the truck and was up at 6:30 am ready to go, and finally got in at 11:30am So I spent 33% of my travel time covering the final .0006% of the distance.
As Jim mentioned, both tech and registration were great. And I'm glad to be here.
 
I put the subject as registration but it was track entry that was the problem. They actually registered us in the motor home. It was the wait to get in. I was in Monterey on Thursday, in line to get in at 12 noon on Friday but we knew we couldn't get in until Saturday. Got in line at 6:30 and got to the front at 10:30. So it was 22 1/2 hours start to finish.

Anyway everyone has been friendly and l'm really glad to be here.
 
OK, that's makes better sense Ron since Toni told me she did not see much of a line at registration. It is a little disappointing that guys who arrived early are getting put in the boon docks. For years at Road Atlanta, we only parked the showroom stock cars in the lower 40 and everyone else had a "chance" at the main paddock. If someone was sent to the back 40, they got more room to spread out. That area got where it filled early because people liked the freedom to move without bumping into their neighbor. Paddock parking has always been a task.

Wait until Daytona where there is miles of space. With 300 cars at the SIC, we only used about 20% of the RV area. Some may end up in the grass, but it will be inside the Speedway. And once we went through the gate, the guard recognized us and spoke. He even recommended a favorite area restaurant and it was great.
