Very nice looking car.
Yeah, Madsen was running a EP 914-6 back at the 04 OR 05 Ruboffs. I was there helping him and the FP 914s when Kirby's car last ran. That was a pretty cool weekend for the 914s. However it was probably their last Hoorah at the big show.
There were eight of us in 914's in 2005...and yes I guess you could say it was the last hoorah.
914 pilots included : Mark Hotchkis driving and winning FP in the Kirby car, Ray Anderson from TX, Kevin Groot, Eric Madsen 3rd in EP, Chris Foley, Steve Limbert, Les Handly (RIP) and myself.
I've never seen the Kirby car again. I think Dave Finch has or had possession of it.
Foley and Limbert still own and operate 914 race prep shops.
Limbert acquired Les's car and it is seen mostly on display. It was rumored to be the first 914 imported into this country.
Kip's car looks very similar to the Kirby car but I suspect without the price tag. D.Finch prepared the Kirby car and the price tag was rumored to be in the $000,000 range.
We had 44 starters in FP back then with everyone having "earned " the invitation.
It may have been the last hoorah but I'd also consider it the "good ole days".
