Mike is pretty experienced. Ran alot of PCA races (996 Gt3), Has run Miatas, Had a GTI in T3(R. Fisher drove it at the runoffs). Ran our CRX in the Lemons last fall. A member of ABCC. We don't let just anyone drive the Scirocco, you know. And, oh yes, wants to go to the runoffs. Good guy and loves to race. A nice fit all around.

Greg, I grudgingly have something for your car. We discussed it at the runoffs.

Hey, just shopping for a couple of crew passes for Sunday if anyone has any extra - I'd really appreciate it. Going down to check out the show either way, just let me know.

Good luck to everyone.

Looks like the Region is using Race Monitor for results. Prod cars out at 2:55pm Saturday for Q2 and last race before lunch on Sunday.

Thanks to all the Regions using Race Monitor. Big help to racers at the track and watching from afar.

Mostly everyone ran their fastest time in qualifying 1 during the morning session, but it was very congested.

EP - Jon Brakke had problems all day and ran several hardship laps. The engine sounded like it was missing each time it went by. I'm not sure if he got it fixed by the end of the day. Coffey ran well with Simaras very close in lap times, which should result in close racing.

FP - Wessel broke a differential in Q1 and went home to fix to be able to make the race Sunday. Jerry got the pole in Q1 but blew an engine on the front straight in Q2 which snapped him into the pit lane wall causing a bit of left front and left rear damage. He is okay but a little sore after hitting the wall so hard. This stopped and checkered Q2 after only 4 laps. Dieter had carburetor issues and had to use a spare one for Q1 which resulted in less power. We got our current one fixed for Q2 which resulted in quicker lap times but with only four laps in Q2 made it difficult to get much faster lap times.

HP - Gauper and Moser looked competitive with each other in the qualifying sessions. They should have a good race on Sunday. Stanford ran well after getting the cobwebs off the Spitfire.

GTL- Sargis seemed like he had some handling issues in the red Spitfire. He can only beat himself on Sunday.

STU - Turbo, turbo, turbo

Crazy Race. Traffic was insane. I don't think there was a single car that came off the track without a tire mark except for the pace car.

Top Five only cuz I'm lazy:
EP
1 - Coffey
2 - J. Brakke
3 - Simaras
4 - M. Brakke
5 - Hummel

Brakke seemed to have fixed his problems from Saturday and stormed thru the field. He was leading Coffey when they lapped me but somewhere Coffey got by to take the win.

FP
1 - Wessel
2 - Griesinger
3 - Gnadt
4 - Burdzy
DNF - Engelke

Wessel cruised to an easy win. Dieter spun in front of me and I don't know if he had issues after that but managed to nurse the car home to a P2. Engelke totaled his car when he got pushed off on the back straight and after sliding foreeeeever, hit a tree.

HP
1 - Gauper
2 -Stanford
3 - Origer
4 - Moser
5 - Trainer
6 - Daly
DNF - Johnson

Mike and I had a hard fought race swapping the lead a few times and each took turns getting screwed by an STU car. I managed to take advantage when Mike got balked and got a run on him to take the lead for good with a few laps to go. Don't know all of the details but Mike tangled with another car and spun out and his car would not start with two laps to go. At the same time, Origer had a suspension failure but was already ahead of Mike so the position held. Stanford got Meatballed early for not having his Hans secured. He inherited P2 when the two Mikes had their issues. Top four H cars were all turned lap times within a few tenths of each other.

GTL - Sargis cruised to an easy win with no other cars despite having issues on Saturday.

Mylaps is down for some reason.

Track was slow....felt like one to two seconds off.
Saturday was cool and overcast but green. Morning Q1 session track felt terrible and it was hard to get decent tire temps.
Track felt better in the afternoon Q2 session as it rubbered in but the session was cut short due to Gerry's crash so nobody really got a chance to crack off a flyer.

For the race we had sunny, hot conditions and to me, the track felt very greasy, especially the new pavement in turn 1.

Two wrecked FP cars this weekend. Not good. Sorry to Jerry and Mike. Hope you guys are both okay.

Congrats to the winners. I'd like to visit Blackhawk--maybe later this year for the Super Tour. Haven't been there since I was 5 or 6 (my mom tells me--I don't really remember).

First, I'd like to say I'm sorry for making Q2 rather short for everyone. 2nd, I'm fine, a little sore Saturday night, but pretty much pain free Sunday, at least until I looked under the hood. Crank broke with one of the two pieces actively trying to escape from the block. No warning, the engine just siezed and I went for a ride. The damage to the car is mostly superficial, but everything in the drive train is now suspect due to the stresses encountered.

I threw the car together in hopes that it wasn't that bad after the memphis engine issues. The overheating did more than just the head, the rings are bad. I got black flagged at lap 2. The blow by was pushing the oil out the dip stick hole onto the header making a nice smoke screen.

Fun weekend for me...worked all day saturday and left the house at 1:30am. arrived at blackhawk at 4. Slept a couple hours in the yukon. unloaded the car and tried.

I'll be at St. Louis this weekend...

EP - There were some good battles at the front. J. Brakke worked his way up to the front quickly and challenged Coffey for the lead for several laps and finally got by for a few laps but Coffey won, don't know what happened to Jon at the end. Simaras was running well against Hummel I believe. He was later battling Fisher's STU VW.

FP - Wessel motored around consistently and won handily. Dieter had braking problems from the start with lots of pumping of the pedal going on. Unfortunately, with such a short qualifying 2, this issue never popped up during that time when we could have diagnosed and fixed before the race. This is what lead to getting sideways in turn 6 in front of Moser and Gauper and why Dieter fell back after that. With Bill so far out in front, it was important to preserve a finish.

HP - Moser was leading for a majority of the race it seemed but Gauper was right there. They had a very nice battle in the closing laps. Origer was running hard near the end and cooked the tires pretty well going into turn 1 a few times.

GTL - Steve's car looked much better on race day although it was smoking a bit. Of course he drove hard the whole time and moved up the field for a good finish.

STU - Weinberger's Audi A4 is very fast and consistent. The car sounds nice and looks good too. He checked out very early and lapped most of the field on his way to a track record.

STL - Walke won in his 2nd gen RX-7 while setting a track record.

That being said, the track was messy with the STU/STL cars. There were more close calls than anything with these cars. I'm not sure they fit so well in this production grouping at a track like BHF.

Sorry to hear about Mike Engelke's car! I saw the back end caved in pretty good while it came off the track on the wrecker.
