Larry, I'd be happy to help you any way that I can. Not sure exactly what model car or what part number shocks you have and their age but with a little info I can help you sort out the various options. Depending on the car and the shocks (still in production or not) and on what your wants and needs are (off the shelf valving or custom valving, lengths, etc.), then on some cars with basic sshocks buying a new unit at a discounted price might be cheaper and faster than servicing your existing units. Normally the labor for rebuilding a shocks is about $140-165 each figuring 1.5-2.0 man hours per shock to strip, sandblast, rebuild and/or revalve, dyno test and repaint the shocks. There are four authorized KONI rebuild shops (tools, training and parts) in the US including our Shop at KONI NA. All will charge the same labor rates but I think the two California shops may charge a bit more due to employee costs.
You can call me on my cell at 859 six three zero 9350 and I'd be happy to help you figure out the options even if you have another shop do the work. if you look at the shocks, they will have the part numbers stamped into them usually looking like XX-XXXX or XXXX-XXXX and then there will be a manufacturing date code nearby with three or four digits. If you could get that info before we speak, it will certainly help.
