Thought I'd start a thread about everyone's impressions this year.
In the comp board meeting, the subject of changed schedule came up.
Show of hands on who liked the changed format. About 6 people.
Who didn't like the changed format: About 36 people.
How many participated in the survey: About 30 people.
There were teams pulling out on Thursday before we even had a
qualifying session, which seemed really wierd.
The total lack of spectators continues to suck. I'm sorry, but I'd really
like for the club to get some airplay. Seems like we continue to fade into
obscurity when it comes to spectators.
The weather was poor for the umpteenth event in a row it seemed.
It wasn't as bad as it could have been, but there were moments it wasn't
remotely pleasant either.
Prod party was well subscribed, thanks to Dayle for organizing and everyone else
who attended, although it was cut short because of the rain.
Lastly, anyone have issues with the rotten golf cart paddock driving of the >Safety Stewards<??
They were cruising around on golf carts and completely disobeying the flow of traffic
at disfunction junction, impatiently swinging around cars waiting to be directed through, etc.
We had two near misses during the week, but on Sunday after the race, Marnie was moving out
of the head-in parking spots by the bathroom when a steward came zipping
down from the upper paddock, decided not to follow the normal flow but instead chop the
left turn short, on the left side of the road directly behind the parked cars, and
crashed into the LF door jamb of our Fiat 500 as she was backing out. He jumped out and
said "You just backed into me!". Uh, no dude, you just drove into us.
