FP Miata Brake Pad Suggestions

Hello all - I'm (slowly...) building an FP Miata and looking for suggestions on brake pads. I've used Hawk, PFC and Porterfield in the past on different applications. Just trying to get an idea of what works well on the Miata.

Any and all input is appreciated. I apologize if this topic has already been beat to death...

Thanks,
Len

I was running Carbotech's and very happy with them. It's been a while since I've run my Miata so I'm not 100% sure what compound is the best these days. In '13 I was running XP10's on the rear and XP12's on the front. I was going to try their XP20's on the front, but I haven't been using the car. Call Danny at Carbotech and he can give you his best recommendation with their latest compound.

Hope this helps. Can also talk to Jesse Prather about pads and any of your FP Miata needs - advice is free and his knowledge is pretty wide since he has a lot of customers trying different things.

The XP12's front and XP10's rear have been the SM standard for some time. I liked them a lot with good initial bite, EZ to modulate, pedal efforts reasonable, EZ on rotors. Much better than the Hawk's I tried earlier.

everybody else wants to know the answer as well.. ;)
LOL!

There are Majors level drivers using PFC and very satisfied. I understand a Spec Miata is not an F production car, it's heaver and slower, but if you searched on the MazdaRacers site there have been some excellent threads/posts on brake pads more so than I've ever read on this site.

Jay would be talking CarboTech pads. I use 10's and 8's on my Spec Miata.

I know that pad choice usually comes down to driving/braking style and personal preference... and budget.

Thanks for the input,
Len
