Florida entry's are open

Well, one of them is anyway.

Both entry's for next months Florida Majors are listed on dlb now but for whatever reason you can only register for the Sebring event. The Homestead race has been listed for a few days now but, as of thi morning there's still no way to enter it. They also indicate there are 0 entry's.

Homestead is now also open. There was a glitch and it is now fixed. This is going to be one of the best opportunities for everyone to get two of the three needed Majors or for the Florida guys, half of the alternate path races without having to travel far.

There will be early testing and parking at Homestead and once that race is concluded, you can take your trailers straight up US 27 to Sebring and park them in the outer area. For those who might want to just stay in Homestead a couple of days, the city of Homestead has an RV park just two blocks from the Speedway. I've stayed there several times and it's quiet and peaceful, but nice and warm. There is also electrical hookups at Sebring in the outer parking area.

Both of the Florida Regions are gearing up for big races and will offer the best of true southern hospitality. I'll be at Homestead early and will do annual techs for anyone needing them. That way, you can just cruise through registration and express tech.

Jim,
Is there a link some place yet for the Runnoffs qualifications? I have 3 racers looking for both options, the Majors deal and the alternate path. You posted the schedule to me prior thanks.
So far I get that; We have to be top 3 at the regional level . No Majors

Or we can use all Majors?
I will have trouble getting My Son to Majors with fri qualifying required.
We may just skip the deal but we have both set aside more time and money for this year' racing.
I hope that he and the paying drivers can get in with regionals only. Thanks. MM

I've posted the updated rules for Southeast Championship Series on the http://www.sedivracing.org under the Championship racing series. The 2015 SECS schedule is also posted. Ignore May at Kershaw. That was an error by the schedule rep. It should be changed later tonight.

We designed the series so drivers could count up to two Majors which counts as 2 events and up to 4 races. Then, they must also have a minimum of two SECS races to make a total of a minimum of 4 events. They can count their best 7 races in those 4 events. They can run additional SECS races if they need. You can run 4 SECS events and no Majors. That meets the four event minimum. Still count you best 7 race finishes (all SECS races are doubles).

To qualify for the Runoffs, they must be in the top 3 (5 in SRF & SM) in points excluding any driver in the SECS points standing who is qualified via the Majors path. There will be drivers who qualify via Majors in the SECS points since the Daytona May race is a double SECS race and everyone will enter. I will highlight a driver in the points who has qualified via the Majors in the SECS points so that everyone knows he is skipped for eligibility.

The Majors path is on SCCA.com under Majors.

I have to give credit to new Area #3 Director Lee Hill who worked hard and long with me putting this plan together and getting the plan fine tuned and approved. All this happened before he was elected. Thanks Lee.

Jim, this is similar to what San Francisco Region, and Cal Club did this year for the 2014 Run-Offs @ Laguna Seca. Too bad most of the east coast racers thumbed their nose up at the event, stating "its too far, the sound thing, blah blah blah.

Get used to it if the rotation continues, which I think we've (West Coast Racers) have proven that it needs to rotate every year.

Lisa's letter stating that 191 (me included) of the 530 entrants, this was their first run-offs event.

I think that shows a viable market for the West Coast Racers, and that the big show needs to rotate around.

Best of luck for everybody in the 2015 racing season.

Thanks Jim , I was going to post the same links .
I am very glad that the SE has made the path viable to more of us little people. Thanks to you and lee for keeping a good head on at all times.
We will skip the Majors race due to the fri requirement and the overall cost .
I am not too good at math but will have to figure out how to get 3 of my guys in the top 3. :)

Wow, 33 cars already registered in EP,FP,HP & GTL group at Homestead. It's the largest group right now. There are 12 EP, 10 FP, 6 HP and 5 GTL cars. This is the best message that you can send to the BOD about the future of prod car classes. Hopefully, there will be a few more and we can reach 40 entries.

I'll be there early and can do annual techs for any that might need them. Just look for me or my motorhome or ask at registration. They will know where I am parked.

What counts to the participation numbers that Topeka looks at? Is it just the Majors or does the SECS count too?

Not sure yet, but I will be sure they get the SECS counts. It would be hard to ignore high car counts at SECS. Also just noticed there are 29 EP, FP HP & GTL already signed up for Sebring. Great numbers so far.

that'd be great of the BOD cared about these 40 cars. These are the 40 they want to go away and be replaced with some mystery 100 cars that don't exist

Aaron since I like you I'm going to help you out.
Your turning into one of these crotchety old dudes on the prod site. Your too good for that.

Turn out for this race is looking great with 297 entries so far. Prod/GTL has gone above the 40 mark with 41 registered so far. EP leads the way with 15 cars. And registration does not close until the 5th. Sebring is also looking good with 309 total entries.

As I said before, I will be there by Wednesday and will do annual techs for anyone needing one. I do have helmet decals for 2015 so I can do gear also.

We've been here in Fla a week and it has been up in the low 80's each day except for Christmas when they got some needed rain. Forecast for the rest of this week is in the low 80's. So, if you want/need to get away from the cold, come join us.

Happy and safe New Year to all.

Wow, 309 entries for Homestead and 321 for Sebring. The prod group at Homestead now has 43 cars, 16 E, 11 F, 8 H and 8 GTL. Registration is still open so it's not too late to join the fun. Both races appear that they will be the biggest in the 30 plus year history of the Winter Vacation races.

Any national staffers going to be out at Homestead or Sebring, bringing us live video?
