I withdrew from the event from a number of reasons. When I withdrew, I mentioned that the run groups were unsafe.

Initial reports I'm hearing are that, the track is fun, but extremely bumpy. I'll post more when I hear more.

I'll know more by 8:15 tomorrow morning. Not looking forward to running practice and warm up with the GT cars. Fast down the straight and parked before the turns, my view watching today.

Practice might be the only dry session. Calling for 80% chance rain with "damaging" wind and hail.

We will see.

Disappointed to be the only GTL car. Might just start at the back. Turn1/2 could be a wreck fest.

Jon,

You might be the only GTL there. However based on the quality of the competitors, in other classes, gridded behind you, you are representing the GTL class well. Congrats.

Had a good race, got hit at the start by (guess!!!) a STL Miata that thought 3 wide in turn 1 on the first lap was a great idea.

More later when I get some results.

Reynolds crushed it, won overall.

Little Bill broke a trans.

Saurino's both broke.

Paul Jensen was a surprise FP winner, he found out when they handed him the checker in pit lane.

Start was not that bad for Eagles Canyon. Turn 1 is down hill and off camber and it's problematic getting everyone through just in time to make a 90 to the left.

I ran behind the FP/STL mess until my right front just delaminated. I knew something was wrong when I dove into 3 after passing an STL and the front end scraped. Limped in and found out in STU impound that I had gotten 3rd as Rob had broken.

STU/GT1 start was something to behold. Wet track and big horsepower. Spinners everywhere. Ran behind Jim Speights (GT3) and Matt Blemm (STU) for most of the race and then kicked it up a notch when the leaders came up on us. I ran down the back straight with Pettiford and lost my brakes at the end of the big straight. Went off at well over 100 and turned around and came back to limp into for a 2nd place.

Tomorrow has to be a better day.

If I'd had another 100hp, this would have been a much different story.. I was giving it everything I had to catch up in braking and turns. cooked what I had left of the front tires yesterday and had nothing for today. As much as I hate to get a win from your mechanical issues, I needed the tires. Get some good brakes (and shocks) on that Solstice, and it'll be a rocket. I didn't even hear about your flat in the HP car until last night. sorry, that sucks. :(

Today was more of the same in the big-bore group, but at least it was dry. track was still green by group 3 and it was coooold.. If you got off line just a couple feet, you were out of it and headed farther out in a hurry. lots of mud brought back onto the track in bad places.

The small bore race was pretty good to watch from the top of the hill. Robertson got a great start and got in front of the T2 Mustang. Maybe someone had a chat with him after yesterdays race since it looks like he backed off a tad and gave Robertson and Reynolds room to run. Robertson stayed 3-5sec ahead of Reynolds through most of the race, but every time Reynolds would catch up, they'd hit some lapped traffic and it seemed Robertson would encounter them on the straights while Reynolds would get held up in the next turn. It was painful to watch as we've all been tehre and I'm sure Reynolds was steaming. I was cheering and crying at the same time. He would get around them and then make up a little ground on Robertson again, then it would just happen again. With a few laps to go, it looked like Reynolds backed off a ton- not sure if he had a mechanical issue or just gave up, but Robertson finished 20+ sec ahead.

Unfortuantely, I couldnt' tell who was where in the FP/HP races as I was trying to get Race Monitor to work on my business mobile while watching the EP race with the other eye. by the time I gave up trying to get the live timing running, the field was already lapping cars and I just couldn't get it sorted.

I rarely get to watch this race since I'm usually in the middle of it- definitely was a good one to watch today!

ECR was fun, they fixed the track in a few spots, but still there are bumpy areas that I’m sure will be fixed in the next year.

This was my first weekend in the Caterham where it ran right and we have it mostly sorted out, thanks to Mike Halbrook. My Saturday qualifying was a disaster, I could not get a clean lap. I ended up gridded 17th, finished 7th, but could never catch the back of the EP field. Sunday I was racing with Buskuhl for 3rd and his transmission gave out I believe. Tough deal for Mark as that was a new transmission.
It was great to see the racers who made the trip from Colorado, I’m looking forward to HPR. Next year we’ll order up some better weather for you guys.

Sunday's HP race was much better for me. First of all they came down and told me that there was supposed to be a split start and I was pole. Saturday they failed to tell me that plus they released me with everyone else. So sorry guys for Saturday. Only problem was they held me in grid until the field was over halfway around. I saw them coming over the hill when we got the split. I ran down the back straight at almost full tilt just to give us a little room. I'm sure everyone was wondering what the hell I was doing, but I sure didn't want them full field catching us before we got green.

At the start I floored the car and it shut off. Looked down at the dash and the water temp alarm was on and the temp was 132. So it went into limp mode under full throttle. I had to drive the first two laps at 3/4 throttle and short shifting. The close ratio box saved the day. When the leaders came by I jumped into their draft and got the temp up to 155 and just took off with them. When I'd lose them on the straights the temp would just fall like a stone. Have a 170 thermostat but it wasn't helping. Rob had carb trouble again, Randle Smart's car wouldn't start, and David was caught behind the BSpec horde.

Andrew was driving the wheels off the Caterham when he came by me. Matt was fast early but something happened to his engine. I had to lift to let him in on the back straight. His car had just about as much speed as John Phillips's STL car.

Only bad part of the split was that I mostly just drove around by myself until the faster EP and FP guys caught me.

I like the layout of ECRaceway but the surface is pretty bumpy. You really have to setup and drive for it. Just can't go drive around like a COTA. This track takes more driver skill because you have to drive the track and your fellow competitors.
