Defnder questions

Hi all,

I am moving (slowly) into the modern age of racing – I just got me one of them thar new-fangled head and neck contraptions. A Defnder to be more precise, and I have a couple questions.

How easy, or not, are they to install?

Can someone post up a picture of theirs attached to the helmet so I can see what I am aiming for installation-wise.

There are a couple allen bolts at the back of the device, on both sides of the SFI sticker. There are 3 sets of holes, which I am guessing allow for some adjustment. What specifically do those adjust?

Thank you,
Larry

If Defender didn't either include instructions or point you to their website for instructions.........I'd be more than a little worried about the wisdom of my purchase.

Installation is easy, instructions are here: http://www.defnderneckbrace.com/images/ ... Helmet.pdf
To protect the interior foam (if it is not removable in yours) is stick a metal ruler or small putty knife on the inside, then the drill wont hit the foam if you push to hard.

The holes allow you to adjust the lay-back angle, so you can tailor it for an open (lay down Formula type) or closed cockpit car.

Larry, IMHJ you bought one of the better units that not only provide you with frontal impact protectin but the Defnder also provides lateral load protection way beyond the other noted unit that requires a halo seat to get the same protection. I have a new Simpson helmet that I drilled for a Defnder last week. Use the measurements provide on their site or I could snail mail you the instructions.

I got the Defnder previously worn, and without a manual. Didn’t realize their site was still up – thanks Jason.

After reading racer input (like David’s) and trying one on I decided on the Defnder. I was uncomfortable with the HANS when I tried it on.

Thanks guys,
Larry

Just as a side. After HANS got finished with their suite against Defnder the same people came out with an improved product called NecksGen.

Since I'm not allowed to use my Issacc. (Yes, I'm still salty about that.)

So,
I just spent my double national entry fee on a Necksgen instead.
