2016 Helmet Requirements

Anyone heard anything regarding 2016 GCR helmet requirements now that SA2015 helmets are out? In the past, there has been a transition year since the new certifications come out in the final quarter of the year. Will this be the same in 2016? Or will SA2005 helmets not be valid in 2016?

Not sure who makes the decisions but I'd sure like to use my SA2005 helmet longer, even if only for a year.

IMHO helmet technology is stable enough these days that there isn't a valid reason to toss the helmet "because the new ones are better", the Snell rating is a proxy for age. With an unpainted, uncrashed, and used-less-times-than-I'd-like good quality US made Bell helmet it's a darn shame to bench it.

Al, the same with belts.

SCCA normally publishes something stating when a new Snell Cert is done, that the old "X" cert would be good for "Y" years.

Looks like our 2005s will be good for quite a while
From the Prelims

"Crash helmets approved by the Snell Foundation with Snell sticker 2005 or later Special Application (SA2005) (SA2005 will no longer be accepted as of 1/1/20017), or SA2010/SAH2010, or SA2015/SAH2015, or by the SFI with a SFI Sticker SFI 31.1, or by the FIA standard 8860-2004 or later, or British Standards Institute BS6658-85 type A/FR. . . .
