$3000 new price
History of the car: From my understanding Dereck Chima built the car for Vintage. He sold it to Will Speed who raced it in SCCA SEDiv. Will sold it to Hap Waldrop who raced it at the 2005 Runoffs at Mid-Ohio and finished 11th. I think there it was one of the first LPHP cars built. I bought the car in October 2010 and raced it from 2011.
Reason for selling: I tested my old car at Bowling Green and I was well pleased with how it handled. I’m switching back to my old racing Sprite even though this chassis is better than my old car. It is more sentimental than anything. I’m also thinning the Spridget herd at my house.

2016 Sprite Midget Race Series Highlights
Happy Holidays to all my Spridget Friends. I thought I would send out a preliminary highlight of plans for another exciting 2016 Season, which is our 5th year and still enjoying continual growth. The criteria for this series was always to have more Spridgets for wheel to wheel racing and enjoying our group off and on the track in a fun format that creates enough classes for everyone to have someone to compete with! I feel we have met this criteria successfully to this point in our history. I have also realized recently that there are some down sides to more is better! More cars means a busier track, unless we can have our own class similar to Vintage Vee Group (and a minimal amount of Formula Juniors). We have had some accidents in 2015 that have involved our cars. The VSCDA Board is working on this issue, but like all bureaucratic organizations results are never as quick as we would like. I have always believed that if you feel something is important and surely Safety is one of the most important, when it comes to racing vintage sports cars, then I suggest we start with ourselves. I have some thoughts that I will share in the near future, but I want to get feedback from you on what we can do as a group. To encourage this behavior I would like to initiate a Sprite Midget Race Series Driver’s Award that recognizes the driver that exhibits proper Vintage Driver Characteristics, which fellow drivers will vote on at the end of the year. Some of the criteria for this award would include: predictability, defensive driving, proper usage of mirrors and point others by to name a few (I am open to other characteristics that anyone would like to add).

We will stay the course with our 2016 best 2 out of 3 Sprite Midget Race Series with Gingerman April 28 – May 1, Blackhawk June 17-19 and Grand Finale Grattan August 19-21. Eric Zanner and JDM Investments has graciously offered to sponsor us again this year, allowing us to enjoy the cool awards we treasured from last year. Don Kelly is working on some Series Hats. I had some recent positive comments from our Eastern Spridget Friends that had such a good time at Grattan and are planning on joining us in more events this year! I appreciate everyone’s contribution to making this a successful series!

I am attaching our latest Rules and Regulations. At this point in life there has not been too much complaining about competitor’s hardware, which I have been thankful for. We are finding more and more recent past SCCA cars making it into the Vintage Ranks. We have been open to all cars with the understanding that these cars will be converted eventually back to a more Vintage Standard. One of the areas that I would like everyone to work towards is on flared fenders. I realize this can be somewhat of a challenge particularly on rear fenders that cannot be replace easily. Please make some plans towards making your car more Vintage in appearance. One of the more obvious criteria for Spridget Classification is Gross Vehicle Weight. Typically SCCA considers this weight to be after race conditions coming off the track. I would appreciate someone volunteering for this responsibility, which would include arranging for scales to be present at track event and recording weights of our cars. This information would assist us in understanding where your car fits into the VSCDA classifications of Vintage Class, Mod 1 or Mod 2.

I wish everyone a Happy Holiday and enjoy this winter prepping your Vintage Race Spridget for the upcoming Fun Race Season!
